SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Wednesday, Utah! It’s our first full day of spring and we will be treated to a gorgeous chamber of commerce weather day!

It already has felt like spring these last few days, and that continues today as temperatures will run above average across the state with most topping out in the 50s and 60s while St. George will likely hit the low- to mid-70s! There’s even an outside chance we hit 70 in Salt Lake today!

Spring warmth and dry skies for the midweek

Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy statewide. Tonight will be clear and cool with lows headed back to the 30s and 40s for most. The high pressure keeping our weather quiet now will begin to move out of the way for the end of the workweek.

We won’t see any drastic changes in temperatures for the end of the week, but increasing moisture will mean a few more clouds and a chance of a few spotty showers (mainly in northern Utah) for Thursday and Friday as temperatures remain fairly consistent.

More noticeable changes arrive this weekend as a cold front looks set to move in between Saturday and Sunday. In both the north and south, winds increase, becoming gusty throughout the day ahead of the cold front.

This front will likely bring widespread showers to the state with a sizeable drop in temperatures from the weekend into early next week. By Monday, there’s a chance we don’t get out of the 40s along the Wasatch Front.

At this point, the storm this weekend into early next week looks like mainly valley rain and mountain snow, but we’ll fine-tune the forecast as we get closer!
