Most of Denver was not forecasted to get any measurable snow, with mainly rain slated for those areas.

However, the snow that has already fallen in the mountains has caused safety closures by the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Eastbound Interstate 70 between Loveland Pass and Silverthorne was closed for several hours, but has since reopened as of 9:40 a.m.

U.S. Highway 6 was closed at Loveland Pass but has since reopened to traffic.

Areas of several roads saw small closures for stalled vehicles or crashes at various points in the morning.

As of 12:45 p.m., the following roads were closed or limited for crashes or stalled vehicles:

  • Eastbound I-70 between Vail Pass Summit and Copper Mountain due to a crash

Road conditions across the state varied. According to CDOT, on I-70 east of the closures conditions were icy and slushy, with other areas being described as snowpacked and icy.

People can check road conditions through the COtrip app.

The Pinpoint Weather Team forecasts that some areas could see anywhere between 6 and 12 inches of snow with the storm.
