Spring Covid-19 vaccinations campaign begins in Lincolnshire
Covid-19 vaccinations are being offered to vulnerable people in Lincolnshire from Monday 15 April.
The spring campaign will start with residents in care homes, before being offered to other groups.
Those over 75 and people who are immunosuppressed can book online for appointments starting the following week.
Community pharmacies across the county will work alongside GPs to offer the immunisations.
Julie Humphreys, from Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust, said eligible people did not need to wait to be invited to book a vaccination.
"After several successive Covid-19 vaccination campaigns, I think most people are aware of the benefits to be had from getting vaccinated," she said.
"Namely, good protection against severe disease and/or hospitalisation, as well as being able to protect the most vulnerable from death."
The vaccines have been updated to target a different Covid-19 variant, boosting protection and giving slightly higher levels of antibody against the more recent strains of Covid-19, the trust added.
Figures from the UK Health Security Agency on last spring's vaccination programme showed those who received a vaccine were around 50% less likely to be admitted to hospital with Covid-19 from two weeks following vaccination, compared to those who did not receive one.
