TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Spring breakers have flooded Florida beaches as people from all around the country flock to the Sunshine State to enjoy the surf and sand.

Among those spring breakers enjoying the Florida sun, thousands decided to flock to the Tampa Bay area, especially after Miami “broke up” with spring breakers earlier this month.

“That is part of the reason why we came here because of Miami, even though we are technically spring breakers, we don’t want the full spring break atmosphere, we just kind of want to chill out, hang out, and just have a good time,” a college student on spring break said.

Tampa International Airport said it expects to see a record 3 million passengers for spring break.

Tampa area residents can expect heavy traffic due to spring break, St. Patrick’s Day, and other events throughout the week and into the weekend.
