Nets’ Spencer Dinwiddie: Nic Claxton is ‘supremely motivated’ for next season

Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie enters the 2023-24 season vying to be the starting point guard out of training camp. While he will have to compete with Ben Simmons for that role, Dinwiddie, as one of the veterans on the team, has some strong words to say about a player who is an unquestioned starter: center Nic Claxton.

Dinwiddie recently made an appearance on “The NetsPress Experience” podcast to discuss many topics related to the Nets, including his outlook for the team next season. During the conversation, Dinwiddie made sure to give praise to Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson for what he expects the “Twins” to do next season.

What was interesting about Dinwiddie’s comments is that he arguably had the most praise for Claxton. Claxton is one of Brooklyn’s best players and is paramount to the team being good on defense due to his ability to protect the rim and hold his own defending guards on the perimeter.

Here’s some of what Dinwiddie had to say about Claxton:

“I think Nic (Claxton) is going to try to establish himself as one of the premier big men in the league, especially being in a contract year and heading into free agency next year. I think Nic is going to make the biggest jump. I think he’s going to be supremely motivated. I think we’re going to see a big-time year from him.”
