SpongeBob fans are not happy with that goober of a Super Bowl tribute

The rumored halftime tribute to SpongeBob SquarePants actually happened, but now some people are disappointed by how it turned out.

Maroon 5's painful Super Bowl halftime show performance was mercifully interrupted by Squidward, who conducted a marching band of Bikini Bottom residents. As the band built up into a crescendo, Travis Scott inexplicably flew into the stadium via meteorite.

Yeah, it makes absolutely no sense.

And after the major online push to play "Sweet Victory" in honor of SpongeBob SquarePants' late creator Stephen Hillenburg, fans were angry that the tribute barely lasted more than a few seconds.

But maybe the fact that SpongeBob appeared at all is enough of a sweet victory.
