Speed racer allegedly driving 123 mph gets hefty ticket in Hillsboro

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A driver who was allegedly racing at speeds up to 123 mph on Highway 26 was stopped and given a $1,855 traffic ticket Monday night, the Hillsboro Police Department said.

The ticketed driver was one of three people racing at speeds “well over 100 mph,” on the highway at approximately 11 p.m., officials said.

“Officers performed a traffic stop on one of the involved vehicles,” Hillsboro PD stated on social media. “The driver was cited for speeding over 100 mph, careless driving, and speed racing.”

The driver is also at risk of having their license suspended, police said.
