Speed limit on stretch of Rockville road where woman was killed while crossing street to be reduced

ROCKVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) — Officials lowered the speed limit on a stretch of Veirs Mill Road in Rockville by 5 mph.

The section of Veirs Mill Road between Edmonston Drive and Twinbrook Parkway will be 35 mph. It was previously 40 mph.

Officials said that this will make the speed limit consistent with the speed limit in other sections of the road.

A news release from the City of Rockville said that the decision followed a Vision Zero Task Force inspection after a woman was hit and killed by two different cars while crossing the road in December.

City officials said that the State Highway Administration will update the speed limit signs over the next two months.
