SPD: Chase involving stolen vehicles ends with multiple arrests

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WHNT) – The Scottsboro Police Department (SPD), says that a call they received about a car burglary led to multiple people being arrested.

According to SPD, officers received a call about a male trying to break into a vehicle at the 800 block of Snodgrass Road in Scottsboro on Monday. Upon arrival, officers noticed a white Kia SUV leaving the parking lot with no headlights on.

After officers turned on their emergency lights for the white Kia, two silver Kia SUVs left the scene which led to a chase. SPD says that all three vehicles fled on US-72 eastbound.

Officers say that the white Kia SUV turned onto Willow Street and headed westbound, while the
other two continued on US-72 East. The driver of the white Kia exited the roadway on Cedar Hill Drive, damaging a private fence, and became stuck in a nearby field.

The driver of the white Kia, a juvenile was later located on foot and taken to the Coosa Valley Detention Center.

One of the two silver Kia SUVs crashed into a vehicle. The driver then exited the vehicle and tried to run away but was later caught and arrested. The driver of that vehicle was identified as 18-year-old Marquisean Slaughter, of Chatanooga, Tenn.

Slaughter was charged with:

  • receiving stolen property (1st degree)

  • theft of property (1st degree)

  • attempting to elude a police officer

  • reckless endangerment

According to SPD, the remaining Kia drove over state lines into Tennesee where the driver eventually crashed the vehicle. After crashing, two people in the car ran away on foot. One of the two people was arrested by the South Pittsburg, Tennessee Police Department.

Another individual who has been identified as 18-year-old Christian Walker, of Waynesboro, Tenn was also arrested by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (TN).

Additional charges are expected. All three of the Kia SUVs were reported stolen.
