Sparklight to build fiber-optic network in Kilgore

Jun. 9—Sparklight, part of the Cable One company, has announced plans to build a fiber-optic network to provide high-speed internet service to Kilgore.

The company said engineering and pre-construction activities are already underway. The network will deliver symmetrical speeds up to 1 Gig for residential customers and up to 5 Gigs for business customers, Sparklight said.

"We are thrilled to build a solid and reliable broadband infrastructure that will offer fiber-rich connectivity to Kilgore residents and business," said Chris Boone, Sparklight Senior Vice President of Business Services and Emerging Markets, said in a press release.

"Our multi-million-dollar investment in this network will support the bandwidth needs of the Kilgore community, now and in the future. Whether it be for telemedicine, online education, working from home, ecommerce or simply accessing content and entertainment — Sparklight's advanced speeds provide an optimal online experience for our customers."

Construction on the Sparklight network is expected to be done in Spring 2022.

"Fast and reliable internet service is critical to the economic growth and development of Kilgore and is one of the most requested additions to our existing amenities," Kilgore Mayor Ronnie Spradlin said. "We are very pleased to welcome Sparklight to our community and we look forward to the opportunities and advantages that their fiber internet service will bring to the city of Kilgore."
