SpaceX rocket puts on a show over Southern California
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket put on a show as it streaked through the Southern California sky on its way to orbit on Monday evening.
The launch shortly after sunset made for a brilliant display seen throughout Southern California and beyond.
The rocket blasted off from Vandenberg Air Force base just before 7:30 p.m.
SpaceX confirmed the vehicle successfully deployed 23 satellites as part of its growing Starlink network. The company has now launched 10 spacecraft from Vandenberg AFB this year.
