SpaceX launches human spaceflight mission from Florida

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — SpaceX is aiming for a Falcon 9 launch of Crew-8, their human spaceflight mission to the International Space Station on Sunday night from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral.

Crew-8 is Dragon’s eighth operational human spaceflight mission and its ninth flight with astronauts.

The four astronauts aboard are Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Jeanette Epps, and Alexander Grebenkin.

While in the orbiting laboratory, they will conduct over 200 scientific experiments and technology demonstrations. SpaceX said this includes research to prepare for human exploration beyond low-Earth orbit.

The Dragon spacecraft previously flew Demo-2, Crew-2, Ax-1, and Crew-6 missions.
