Southwest not inspecting all CFM engines, source says

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Southwest Airlines Co is not inspecting all of its CFM56 engines, the model involved in Tuesday's mid-flight engine explosion, instead focusing on older models, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

It is likely its inspections "are in the 400 to 600 engine range in order to wrap this up in 30 days," the source said.

Southwest Airlines did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
