Southwest Airlines expands service to Pensacola

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — Southwest Airlines says it will begin offering flights from Pensacola International Airport to Nashville and Houston.

The city had courted the Southwest for years, but Southwest opted to expand service to other destinations including Panama City. The flights will begin in November.

The president of the greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce told the Pensacola News Journal (http://on.pnj.com/141iJMf ) that the airline's announcement was a big win for the city.

City leaders also say they hope the Southwest service will boost tourism and business in the area. The Nashville and Houston flights are scheduled to begin Nov. 3.
