Southern Nevada Health District notifies clients of data security breach

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Payment information may have been compromised for around 300 clients who did transactions on Southern Nevada Health District’s website when they were directed to a “fraudulent payment form” not affiliated with the health district, according to a news release from the district.

The health district said it discovered and removed a malicious code found on March 14 in the Environmental Health Invoice Payment section. The district said the code was placed on the site around March 4. Other areas of the website were not impacted.

The health district said it is mailing letters to individuals or business representatives who did payment transactions during that timeframe. A dedicated call center has also been established for people with additional questions. The phone number is 877-890-9332, from 6 a.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday, and reference engagement number B11943.

According to the health district, it notified law enforcement and worked with cybersecurity experts to secure the site and investigate the breach.
