Southern Craft BBQ in Norton, Va. preparing to open
NORTON, VA. (WJHL)—The finishing touches are being put on the new Southern Craft BBQ and Great Oak Brewery in Norton, Virginia with opening day in sight.
The interior and exterior of the building are nearly complete, including an outdoor seating area and fire pits. The location will resemble other Southern Craft BBQ restaurants, with a brewery and special event space upstairs.
“It’s amazing how many folks actually drive from here down all the way to Johnson City to eat at Southern Craft,” Keith Dancy, Director of Brewing Operations said. “It’s just like our Greenville, Tennessee location. Folks came from that area all the time to go to the Johnson City to eat at that location.”

The restaurant hopes to open during early summer in preparation for the annual Norton Best Friend Festival, which takes place each June.
The new Southern Craft BBQ will be located at the Norton Expo Center where the city hosts farmers markets, car shows and more. The restaurant was awaiting signage as of Thursday.
