Southern California man arrested for lewd conduct outside local high school

A 29-year-old Ventura County man is facing charges of lewd conduct in public after he was allegedly seen masturbating in the parking lot of a local high school as female students walked by, authorities announced Tuesday.

Authorities say that on March 6, two female students spotted the suspect, later identified as Ivan Alejandro Valdez, sitting in his parked vehicle at Sierra High School in Fillmore.

“As one of the female juveniles walked past the male subject, she observed him touching his genitals in a manner that was consistent with being for sexual gratification,” a news release from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office stated.

The two teens believe the 29-year-old then followed their vehicle to a Starbucks Coffee parking lot in Fillmore before eventually leaving the area a short time later.

The incident was reported to authorities by the parents of the two girls.

An investigation into the incident was launched and over the next several days, detectives obtained surveillance footage and community assistance to identify Valdez as the suspect.

The 29-year-old was later arrested in the 700 block of Edison Lane in Fillmore, the release noted.

“The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public to speak to your children about ‘Stranger Danger’ and to report suspicious behavior by calling Ventura County Sheriff’s Communications Center at (805) 654-9511 or 911 for any emergencies,” authorities said.

It is unclear if Valdez remains in custody.
