SouthCoast high school scores and highlights for Tuesday, Oct. 4

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Tuesday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

GIRLS SOCCER

Old Colony 7, Cape Cod Tech 1

Averi Oliveria had a hand in four goals with one goal and three assists. Lily Tose added two goals while Ellie White and Marron Sheehan each scored once. Lily Serra had her first varsity goal and also played in net in the second half and finished with three saves and no goals allowed. The last goal was scored by goalie Breanna Arruda, who never plays the field, but the team wanted her to try it. It was her first varsity goal. Faith Young had an assist while Ava Texeira had two assists. The Cougars (2-4-2, 0-2-2 MAC) host South Shore on Thursday.

Bridgewater-Raynham 4, Dartmouth 2

Ava Oliveria and Isabel Sequin each had one goal for Dartmouth, which outshot B-R 9-7. “Dominated but missed on big opportunities,” said Dartmouth head coach Scot Boudria, whose team fell to 5-2-1. “They capitalized on every opportunity.”

New Bedford 1, Barnstable 0

Ollie Costa had New Bedford’s lone goal on Monday for the Whalers’ third win of the season. Lexi Rodriguez had the assist while Ari Melo was strong at midfield. New Bedford (3-6) hosts Bridgewater-Raynham on Thursday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Bishop Stang 3, St. Mary’s 0

Mae Lima had seven kills and eight aces as the Spartans won 25-18, 25-11, 25-20. Ali James added six kills and two aces while Lilly Surprenant had two aces and 14 assists. Lilly Manning (five aces and three kills) and Darian Dais (three aces and 13 digs) also contributed. The Spartans (4-6, 2-3 CCL) visit Arlington Catholic on Thursday.

FIELD HOCKEY

Bishop Stang 12, Fairhaven 0

Ava Pacheco erupted offensively with four goals and three assists while Hannah Fortin, Molly Kearney (assist) and Sydney Plouffe had two goals apiece. Teal Galligan had one goal while freshman Ella Plouffe scored her first varsity goal. Olivia Brousseau and Caroline Eldredge had an assist apiece. Julia Caron had the shutout in goal. “The defense had a great game keeping the ball out of the circle for the majority of the game, taking much of the pressure off of Julia,” said Bishop Stang head coach Kara Caron, whose team improves to 3-2-3 overall and 0-1-2 in the CCL.

BOYS SOCCER

Cape Cod Tech 5, Old Colony 0

The Cougars, who fall to 2-6-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the MAC, visit South Shore on Thursday.

GOLF

Fairhaven 271, Case 308

Calvin Downing led the Blue Devils at the par 35 Touisset Country Club in Swansea with a 37. Jack Boucher and Tyler Vieira each had 45s for Fairhaven (7-1, 6-1 SCC).

Bishop Stang 209, Archbishop Williams 190

Redmond Podkowa, Kyle Farias and Matthew Oliveira posted 1-over par 37s for 34 points each. Noah Cormier had a strong round with a 2-over 38 for 32 points for the Spartans (11-2, 8-0 CCL).

Old Colony 9, Blue Hills 0

Luke Butler shot even par 36 at Acushnet River Valley while Michael Niemi (38) and Brady Weglowski (42) also contributed. The Cougars (12-0, 10-0 MAC) took all nine points in the match and remained undefeated on the season. Old Colony visits West Bridgewater on Thursday.

Somerset-Berkley 281, GNB Voc-Tech 306

The Bears (2-10, 1-9 SCC) were led at Swansea Country Club by Talan Allain (48), Jake Gonsalves (49), Ben Alves (51), Wyatt Mongie (52), Savannah Mongie (53) and Charlie Fernandes (53).
