Southbound I-680 in Alameda Co. reopens Monday
(KRON) — Southbound Interstate 680 between the I-580 and I-680 connector in Pleasanton and Highway 84 in Sunol reopened on Monday at 2:30 a.m., the California Department of Transportation announced.

The freeway opened an hour and a half ahead of schedule, according to Caltrans. The weekend closure allowed workers to remove deteriorated pavement and replace it with concrete, Caltrans said.

“Caltrans shrank 30 nights of nighttime closures into one weekend, sparing motorists three months of nighttime closures,” the department said. “The closure also advanced the work one year.”
Caltrans thanked residents for their patience in this process.
