Southbound I-57 exit closing on I-74 for month-long construction

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) said Interstate 74’s southbound exit to Interstate 57 will be closing for a month-long construction project.

Road construction closes Campustown intersection

The ramp is in the I-74 construction area by Champaign. A message board has been placed in the zone alerting drivers to the closure, which is set to begin on Monday.

IDOT said that the goal of the 30-day project is to connect the I-57 ramp to new pavement.

In the meantime, IDOT advises southbound travelers to use Market Street in Champaign, then travel north to reach I-57’s southbound exit.
