South suburban woman handed 20 federal prison sentence for sex trafficking 13-year-old girl

CALUMET CITY, Ill. — A south suburban woman will spend 20 years in federal prison for sex trafficking a child in Illinois and Indiana.

According to a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Illinois, 29-year-old Jamari Hodge, a Calumet City resident, pleaded guilty to a federal charge of enticing a minor to engage in commercial sex in 2023.

Prosecutors say in November of 2021, Hodge took sexually explicit photographs of a 13-year-old girl and used them in online advertisements offering sex.

Using rented hotel rooms in Illinois and Indiana, Hodge then organized encounters with individuals who responded to the ads, set prices and collected payments after the encounters, prosecutors said.

U.S. District Judge Martha Pacold handed down the sentence on Wednesday and also ordered Hodge to pay $180,000 in restitution to the victim.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Illinois urges anyone who may be a victim of sexual exploitation or worries others be victims, to contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children by logging on to www.missingkids.com or by calling 1-800-843-5678.
