RICHMOND, Va – The Class 6 kings were crowned Saturday as South Lakes defeated Patriot 65-39- in Richmond. South Lakes got off to a fast start and an even faster finish, leading by as much as 15 in the 3rd quarter.

The team was boosted by junior forward Jordan Scott who poured in 23 points along with senior guard Brian Kennedy who added 16. Kennedy came up huge late in the 2nd quarter, hitting a three-pointer as the game clock expired into halftime to give the Seahawks a 10-point lead.

Patriot beat South Lakes this season by 11 on December 11th in the regular season, but this time the Seahawks got the last laugh.

As the clock expired the South Lakes bench gathered in celebration as their crowd chanted “I believe that we will win!” Collecting their first state title.

“It doesn’t really set in until you get here in the moment.” Senior guard Brian Kennedy said. “Hearing that final buzzer…everybody hugging each other. It’s a great feeling,” he continued.

Head Coach Mike Desmond hopes his players soak it in. “So many great players have come to South Lakes and never accomplished this goal,” Coach said. “I’m excited for the community, the school, and those young men in that locker room right now.” He concluded.
