Sources: Kyle Lowry agrees to $100M deal with Raptors
Free-agent point guard Kyle Lowry has agreed to a three-year, $100 million deal to return to the Toronto Raptors, league sources told The Vertical.
Lowry and his agent, Andy Miller, held extensive negotiations with the Raptors this week to reach an agreement. Lowry, a three-time NBA All-Star, has helped lead the Raptors to championship contention in the Eastern Conference over the past five seasons.
This offseason, the Raptors emphasized re-signing Lowry and forward Serge Ibaka, who returned to Toronto on a three-year, $65 million agreement. Toronto lost free agent P.J. Tucker to the Houston Rockets on Friday night, but have moved quickly to retain their top free agents this summer.
For Lowry, the new deal signifies an annual guaranteed salary of over $30 million and the opportunity to continue his tenure with the Raptors.
Lowry has had his best seasons since being acquired by the Raptors in an offseason trade in 2012. He averaged 22.4 points, seven assists and 4.8 rebounds last season.
Lowry, 31, has played 11 NBA seasons with Toronto, Houston and Memphis. He was part of USA Basketball’s Olympic gold-medal team in 2016.
