The Utah Jazz will release former NBA MVP Derrick Rose, allowing him the opportunity to join a playoff team, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Rose had returned to the Cavs’ lineup on Jan. 18 after dealing with injury but has consistently underwhelmed in his stint with Cleveland. He averaged 9.8 points, 1.6 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 19.3 minutes in 16 games this season. He shot 43.9 percent from the floor and 25 percent from 3-point range.
The three-time All-Star has struggled to stay healthy and find his place in the league since tearing his ACL in 2012. Rose was the Rookie of the Year in 2009 and the league MVP in 2011.
