Source: The Sacramento Kings met with these top NBA prospects at draft combine in Chicago

The Kings will explore all options with the No. 13 pick in June’s NBA draft, but in the mean time they are doing their due diligence when it comes to evaluating prospects. That includes a couple of players who are projected as top picks.

The Kings met with several players during last week’s NBA draft combine in Chicago, a league source told The Sacramento Bee, confirming a report from Fox 40’s Sean Cunningham. The list of players who met with Kings representatives included Alex Sarr, Donovan Clingan, Dalton Knecht, Ja’Kobe Walter, Cody Williams and Sacramento native Jared McCain.

Sarr, 19, is projected as the No. 1 pick in NBA.com’s latest consensus mock draft. The 7-foot-1, 224-pound power forward/center averaged 9.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks last season for Perth of Australia’s National Basketball League.

Clingan, 20, is a 7-foot-3, 282-pound center who is projected as the consensus No. 5 pick. He averaged 13.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.5 blocks as a sophomore while leading UConn to the NCAA championship.

Knecht, 23, is projected as the No. 10 pick. The 6-6 ½ small forward averaged 21.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 39.7% from 3-point range as a senior at Tennessee.

Williams, 19, is a 6-7 ¾ small forward who averaged 11.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists as a freshman at Colorado. He is projected as the No. 11 pick.

NBA.com’s consensus mock draft currently has Walter, 19, going to the Kings at No. 13. The 6-5 ½ shooting guard averaged 14.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists as a freshman at Baylor, shooting 37.6% from the field and 34.1% from 3-point range.

NBA.com wrote: “The shooting and defensive potential are there, and there’s a knack for finding ways to the line. Quick contributions could come, and playmaking might follow with time.”

McCain, 20, is a 6-3, 197-pound guard who averaged 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists as a freshman at Duke. He shot 46.2% from the field and 41.4% from 3-point range. Some mock drafts have him listed as a late lottery pick. McCain was born in Sacramento before attending Centennial High School in Corona.
