Sophie Turner has branded Taylor Swift an “absolute hero” as she came to her aid in the wake of her divorce from Joe Jonas.

The Game of Thrones star has spoken candidly about the agony of her and Jonas’ split in 2023 after four years of marriage and eight years together.

In a new interview with British Vogue, the 28-year-old opened up about her friendship with Swift, 34, who previously dated the Jonas Brother singer in 2008.

The Do Revenge actress praised the global superstar for her support amid her public separation and revealed how when she needed a place to stay in New York with her two daughters Willa, three, and Delphine, 22 months, Swift immediately came to her rescue.

'Taylor was an absolute hero to me this year,” she shared.

“I’ve never been more grateful to anyone than I am for her because she took my children and me, and provided us with a home and a safe space.”

Turner said of the gesture: “She really has a heart of gold.”

Swift previously dated Jonas in 2008. It later surfaced that he had ended their relationship with a brief 27-second phone call after just three months of dating.

Following the announcement of Turner and Jonas’ separation, the TV star was pictured hanging out with Swift in New York and enjoying dinner at celeb-favoured eatery Via Carota.

During her interview with Vogue, Turner also opened up about her battles with “depression, anxiety, and bulimia”.

She bravely shared: “I’m not very good at processing my emotions. I lock them away and then they’ll bubble up in years to come in some form of depression or anxiety.

“Being a young girl, especially one growing up in the spotlight, you really judge yourself.”

The X-Men actress explained that while she had taken medication for her mental health issues in the past, she currently isn't using any.

“Not since I moved back to the UK,” Turner explained. “Which is great and also surprising, because I anticipated that I’d need to – now perhaps more than ever.

“There’s something about a community and a support system that I’ve never realised is so important up until now.

“And I think the reason I was on medication for so long is because I didn’t have those people with me.

“Now that I’m back home, I’m actually the happiest I’ve been in a really long time. I’m starting over again, rediscovering what I like to do, who I like to be with.”
