Soon, the sun will set past 8 p.m. in Colorado

DENVER (KDVR) – The winter months dragged on with limited daylight and the sun setting as early as 4:35 p.m. in December. After the snowy months, with flakes appearing even towards the end of April, the beloved summer nights are approaching.

Finally, Denver is starting to see warmer weather and later days.

What will the weather look like for the first weekend of May?

On May 7, the sun will set past 8 p.m.

While the sun is setting past 8 p.m. this month, it’s not even close to the longest or latest day of the year. Denver still has some long days – and nights – to look forward to.

The longest day of the year lands on June 21, when the sun will rise at 5:32 a.m. and set at 8:31 p.m., totaling almost 15 hours of sunlight. While the daylight hours will start trending down after the longest day of the year, it might not feel like it.

The longest day of the year isn’t the day with the latest sunset, which lands on June 25 when the sun sets at 8:35 p.m.

After that, the sun will then slowly start to set earlier and earlier. You can still enjoy the 8 p.m. sunsets for a few months before the sun begins to set before 7 p.m., which will be in mid-August.
