You will soon be able to fly to this country from DIA

DENVER (KDVR) — Coloradans will soon have another destination to fly to from Denver International Airport: Dublin, Ireland.

Aer Lingus will begin nonstop service from Denver to Dublin on Friday, May 17. The company announced the new route back in August 2023.

The flight will operate four days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Why Denver International Airport doesn’t call itself ‘DIA’

The first flight out of Denver leaves on Friday at 8 p.m. and arrives in Dublin at 11:45 a.m. the next day. A one-way economy ticket on this flight will cost $758.

However, the first flight on the route will take off from Dublin earlier in the day at around 8:30 a.m. MDT, or 3:30 p.m. Irish Standard Time.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston will be on this inaugural flight as part of a trip to the city in honor of the new nonstop route.

Johnston’s office said the trip aims to strengthen existing relationships and build new ones to promote Denver to Irish businesses and tourists, among other things.

According to the announcement, passengers on the route will be able to take advantage of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s preclearance program at the Dublin Airport. This means passengers coming back to Denver from Dublin will be able to clear U.S. customs in Dublin.
