Sookie's Back! Melissa McCarthy Reveals She Will Return for Gilmore Girls Reboot

Never mind what you heard, Sookie is back!

Melissa McCarthy revealed on Thursday that she will be returning to Stars Hollow for Netflix's Gilmore Girls reboot.

"It is really exciting. There has been something that I've been asked about so, so many times and it hasn't worked out," McCarthy, 45, said during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. "They're making four new movies of the Gilmore Girls, which is a show that was near and dear to my heart for four years and we could not get those schedules to work."

She went on to explain that fortunately it all worked out.

"There was a whole thing and I was going to be out of the country," said McCarthy. "And literally about an hour and a half ago we figured out that I am gonna go back and do it! And I am so excited!"

Like the rest of us, the crowd erupted in cheers, as it's been widely reported that the actress would not be a part of the series revival.

McCarthy recently to PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly Editorial Director Jess Cagle that she didn't expect to participate in the show in any capacity.

"I would be very surprised if that happens," the Boss star said when she was asked if she would even make a guest cameo.

Speculation that McCarthy would not be a part of the cast began swirling earlier, and she confirmed in mid-March that, to her knowledge, she would not be involved.

"I don't think I am," she said. "I didn't actually get asked to do it. But I think they though I was busy, and then by the time it did come up, then I actually was."

On Thursday, McCarthy clarified to Ellen DeGeneres that while there were originally scheduling conflicts, they've found a way to work it out.

"They're gonna be amazing. Amy Sherman Palladino's gonna squeeze me in to do it and I'm very happy to go back to Star's Hollow," she said. "I'm just really excited about that. So, it just happened; I got asked a lot about it. As of not even two hours ago, it's happening."
