Sony predicts it will sell 3 million PlayStation 4s this year

Here’s why PS4 and PS3 fans should be very excited right now

Sony has massively high hopes for the PlayStation 4 this holiday season. Bloomberg reports that Sony is projecting at least 3 million PlayStation 4 sales before the end of 2013, keeping pace with the 5 million unit sales expected by March, the end of the fiscal year. The ceremonial unboxing video Sony released over the weekend might be nothing more than a flashy commercial for the next-gen console, but it also represents one of the final moves Sony will make before the PlayStation 4 goes out into the wild on Friday. The Xbox 360 handily won the last generation, with the PS3 taking more than two years to finally reclaim the top spot in sales, but the PS4′s lower price tag and earlier release date might give Sony an edge that it didn’t have last time around.
