Son-in-law arrested in Tenn. package bomb deaths
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A man facing murder charges in the Tennessee package explosion deaths of his in-laws who were in their 70s served four years on probation for an arson conviction, authorities said.
Richard Parker was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon.
Court records show that Parker was previously indicted in Giles County for setting fire to a home where he had been performing construction work in 1990.
Parker was sentenced to four years of probation and ordered to pay $40,000 restitution.
State Fire Marshal's Office spokeswoman Katelyn Abernathy said she did not have any information about a possible motive for the bombing that killed 74-year-old Jon Setzer and his 72-year-old wife, Marion. Friends and neighbors described the couple as kind, giving and devout.
