One of the things that we really miss about the ’90s is the brilliantly wacky and totally over-the-top opening credits of a classic sitcom. While shows like The Walking Dead and American Horror Story now have really excellent and artistic opening credits, in the ’90s things felt simpler. It’s probably why we can’t get enough of it when our favourite shows and movies are reimagined as ’80s and ’90s sitcoms and TV shows.

From Game of Thrones to Stranger Things, and even E.T. it’s a fad that we never, ever want to die. We love how creative people get with it, and deep down we kinda want these ideas to come to fruition.

Now someone has reimagined Harry Potter as a ’90s sitcom and it’s actually brilliant.

Harry Potter: The 90s Sitcom Title Sequence

What if Harry Potter was a 90s sitcom?

Everything from the dated logo to the cheesy synth-based opening music is just so on point.

The ’90s version of Harry Potter relies heavily on scenes from the first two films in the series, The Sorcerer’s Stone and The Chamber of Secrets, and features a cast that includes Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, Snape, McGonagall, Dumbledore, and Dobby (who stars as himself).

The first two films in the popular Potter franchise are slightly lighter in tone, so it makes a perfect match for the cheesiness of the opening credits. We’re not sure how well darker scenes from later films such as The Order of the Phoenix and The Deathly Hallows Pt 1 & 2 would go down. We can’t really imagine the sinister Voldemort fitting well with the jolly music. Although, saying that, it might be rather hilarious.

Recently our dreams of a new Harry Potter film were shattered after Warner Bros. confirmed that the latest instalment of the boy wizard’s adventures, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which is current a play in London’s West End, wouldn’t be being made into a film anytime soon.

However, we now feel like we might need a TV series that details the goings on at Hogwarts. It could feature Albus and Scorpius and have cameos from all our favorite Potter characters. Wouldn’t that just be…magical!?
