He’s sold 100 million albums. Fans still attack him. Can you handle this concert, Boise?
Maybe you’re old enough to remember The Osmonds musical group.
Maybe you grew up watching “Donny & Marie” on TV in the 1970s — or the short-lived reboot in the late 1990s.
Or maybe you’re young. Maybe you have zero clue who Donny Osmond is.
Here’s a hint. The 66-year-old singer is bringing his Las Vegas residency show to Boise for a concert. And it’s going to be a biiiig deal to some folks.
Osmond will perform Aug. 8 at Idaho Central Arena in downtown Boise. Tickets become available to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday for $49.50 to $199.50 (front row) at Ticketmaster.
Describing him as a “legendary entertainer and music icon,” a media release about the tour sums up Osmond this way: “Throughout an illustrious six-decades-long career, Donny Osmond has earned 33 gold records ... selling over 100 million albums ... becoming a worldwide music legend. He has made history by celebrating six decades in show business with the release of his latest album ‘Start Again,’ a milestone 65th album for the performer.”
Sixty-five albums? Seriously?
To truly comprehend Osmond’s staying power, check out a YouTube video of him being pulled down last year, mid-song, by an out-of-control concertgoer in England.
The “Puppy Love” is still real. Let’s hope Idaho fans don’t get too overexcited. (As a YouTube commenter said with a laughter emoji, “Ladies be gentle.”)
The media release provides a good indication of what Boise should expect:
