The biggest underachievers and overachievers of the 2016-17 European league seasons

With the home straight of the European domestic season in sight, it’s time for FC Yahoo to look at some of the players, and clubs, who have surprised us – for better or worse.

There have been plenty of overachievers in 2016-17, such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has surpassed expectation and shown absolutely no signs of slowing down in his debut Premier League season. Even his injured knee is an apparent medical marvel.

And there have been no shortage of underachievers – just look at Manchester United and Manchester City, who failed to deliver the intercity title race we were all promised last August and who have certainly not made the most of their bottomless resources.
