Snoring Twin Sisters Search for a Better Night's Sleep

Twin sisters Jan and Joy share many similar attributes, including their snoring problem. They have come to The Doctors to help get their snoring and sleeping under control.

The sisters, who are also both diabetic, tell The Doctors that their snoring is affecting their relationships. Jan feels like relationships have fallen apart due to the snoring and now her grandchildren do not want to sleep in the same room with her when she visits because it’s too loud.

“I feel the snoring is isolating me from my family and friends,” Jan shares. Joy adds, “We don’t agree on a lot of stuff, but we do agree that we do need to find a solution to this snoring problem.”

The Doctors sent Jan and Joy to sleep specialist Dr. Raj Dasgupta, who evaluates them for sleep apnea. Dr. Dasgupta joins The Doctors with Jan and Joy and reveals that the twins both have obstructive sleep apnea, with Jan having a more severe case.

In addition to her sleep apnea and diabetes, Jan is suffering from heart disease. She tells The Doctors, “I’m just tired of not feeling healthy. I used to have so much energy and exercise and workout and I don’t have the energy anymore… I really want to get better and be more productive during my day. And I also want to spend more time with my family and friends where I don’t feel isolated because of my snoring.”

In addition to working on their diet, weight loss and exercise, Dr. Dasgupta explains they can be treated by wearing a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine.

Jan and Joy commit to losing 20 pounds in 3 months and to help the sisters reach their weight loss goals, The Doctors set up gym memberships at Anytime Fitness and a healthy meal plan from Shift Meals.
