‘SNL’: Our Favorite Sasheer Zamata Moments

After four seasons on Saturday Night Live, Sasheer Zamata has left the show. When she was hired, Zamata was the first black woman to join the cast in six years and the first since Maya Rudolph left in 2007. She was brought on in January 2014 amid criticism over lack of diversity on the show. Zamata made the 42nd season finale her last episode, following on the heels of the departure of fellow cast members Bobby Moynihan and Vanessa Bayer.

Zamata was known for portraying the likes of Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, Lupita Nyong’o, and Taraji P. Henson, as well as for her original character, vlogger Janelle.

Zamata has recently made appearances on People of Earth, Transparent, and Inside Amy Schumer, and her comedy special Sasheer Zamata: Pizza Mind debuted in March on Seeso.

We wish Zamata luck in the future, and we’re sure she’ll have more comedy success.
