Sneak peek: Historic Canadian Pacific Kansas City steam train rolling into Union Station

The Empress 2816 steam locomotive, built in 1930, pulled into Kansas City on Thursday as part of the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Final Spike Steam Tour.
At Union Station from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18, visitors can get an up-close look at the train and learn more about it, as well as the history of CPKC and the role of Kansas City Southern. That event is free. Mini-train rides, crafts and other activities will be offered.
Since April, the train has been traveling cross-country to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Canadian Pacific Kansas City.

The first crewed launch of Boeing’s Starliner capsule has once again been called off, this time after an automatic hold was issued by the rocket’s ground launch sequencer less than four minutes before liftoff.
The reason for shutting down the feature is simple: it failed to gain traction. Additionally, it has been Tumblr's plan since last year's reorg to put an end to things that aren't performing well. Data is at the heart of today's advanced AI systems, but it's costing more and more -- making it out of reach for all but the wealthiest tech companies. Last year, James Betker, a researcher at OpenAI, penned a post on his personal blog about the nature of generative AI models and the datasets on which they're trained. In it, Betker claimed that training data -- not a model's design, architecture or any other characteristic -- was the key to increasingly sophisticated, capable AI systems.
