SMTH: New smartphone app tests how high you can throw your phone in the air (yes, seriously)

iPhone, meet SkyPhone.

The Norwegian game developer CarrotPop has released a new smartphone game called SMTH, or Send Me To Heaven. The rules are simple: You simply throw your smartphone as high as you can, and the phone's accelerometers measures how high the phone traveled from your hand. The higher you throw your phone, the higher you score.

That's it. That's the whole game. Throwing your phone super, super high.



Unsurprisingly, the app comes with a disclaimer that CarrotPop is not responsible for any damage that might occur to your phone or to your face by throwing your smartphone as high as you can. It also comes with a delightful tutorial screen:


CarrotPop has also developed games like iScrm, which challenges players to scream as loud as they can; and TeleCat, a smartphone app in which you and your partner both try to predict how often the other is thinking of you. SMTH would seem to be its most dangerous for your smartphone, however.

You can download SMTH for Android on the Google Play Store here; it does not appear to be in the iTunes Store quite yet. If you do download SMTH, I would recommend playing it over a soft surface, and perhaps wearing a helmet.
