Trash fire source of thick, black smoke seen near West End Bridge

Smoke billowed from a trash fire near the West End Bridge on Sunday.

Pittsburgh Public Safety said passing motorists reported seeing thick, black smoke at around 5:30 p.m.

First responders found a trash fire on the bank of the Ohio River. It was quickly extinguished.

No witnesses or suspects were found at the scene.

Two wooden structures were destroyed in the fire.

No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
