Smoke billows from junkyard fire along I-25 in Dacono

DENVER (KDVR) — Fire crews were working to put out a fire at a junkyard along Interstate 25 in Dacono on Thursday afternoon.

SkyFOX spotted billowing smoke just before 4 p.m. and flew to the scene, finding a fire response at the facility. The junkyard, Erie Auto Salvage, is bordered by the I-25 frontage road to the west and Weld County Road 12 to the south.

“There are several structures inside the salvage yard that are currently on fire,” Mountain View Fire Rescue posted at 4:20 p.m.

Multiple crews were responding. No injuries were reported.

There was no immediate information about what led to the fire. SkyFOX did not spot any nearby residential areas or impacts to traffic along the interstate.
