Mar. 17—SFCC to close next week for spring break

Santa Fe Community College will be closed from March 25 through April 1 for spring break. No classes or services will be available, and both SFCC's child development center and fitness center will be closed.

The Santa Fe Higher Education Center will remain open for regularly scheduled trainings and classes, though no SFCC staff will be available.

Classes and student services will resume April 2.

LANL physics camp for women taking applications

Los Alamos National Laboratory is accepting applications now for this year's Summer Physics Camp for Young Women, a two-week camp taught primarily by women scientists and engineers at the Los Alamos lab and Sandia National Laboratories.

The camp, which is free for participants and their families, will be held at New Mexico School for the Arts' campus in Santa Fe from June 10-21.

Registration open children's museum's annual 5K

The Move for the Museum 5K Run/Walk is back. The annual event benefits the Santa Fe Children's Museum, raising funds for summer camp scholarships, virtual field trips and planetarium shows at local schools and STEM grab-and-go kits for rural and tribal communities, among other museum programs.

The 5K is held in memory of Michaelann Perea, a board member, volunteer and advocate for the local children's museum.

Open to all ages, the 5K will take place at 9 a.m. April 28 at Bicentennial Park. There will also be a Kid's Dash for children 10 and younger.

Luna Community College writing club seeks members

Luna Community College in Las Vegas, N.M., is trying out something new this semester: A writing club, open to Luna students and community members.

Novel excerpts, short stories, poems, memoirs, even song lyrics — all are welcome for friendly critique at Luna's new writing club, interim club president Sergio Hartshorne said in a news release.

"I see the writing club as a place for individuals to get positive, productive insight on their writing," Hartshorne said. "We will be very informal and make it a fun, engaging environment."
