Small chance of rain Friday, then weather turns pleasant for weekend

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — After some lingering rain finally cleared out Thursday, the weather began to cooperate for any cleanup in the wake of Wednesday’s destructive storms.

Two EF-1 tornadoes were confirmed in Cleveland and Gaston counties, with a peak wind speed of 110 mph.

Another front and area of low pressure will move in on Friday, bringing more clouds and a few spotty showers and storms in the afternoon and evening. But it won’t rain everywhere. The best chance of rain (and low risk of severe storms) will be south and east of Charlotte, closer to Richmond and Chesterfield counties. Stay weather aware if you live around these areas!

Behind that system, the weekend is looking delightful with lower humidity and sunshine. The only minor rain chance will be Saturday in the mountains when a weak boundary moves in. Mother’s Day Sunday is looking great if you’re taking Mom out!

Shower and storm chances return next Tuesday.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Low 63.

Friday: Partly cloudy. A few showers and storms, mainly southeast of Charlotte. High 83.
