SLO County man killed in early morning rollover crash

A Nipomo man was killed in a rollover crash in southern San Luis Obispo County on Wednesday morning, the California Highway Patrol said in a news release.

At around 7:22 a.m., CHP officers responded to a report of a solo vehicle rollover in the area of Orchard Road and Faith Drive in Nipomo, according to the release.

A witness had spotted a 2003 Honda Accord in a field and after finding it unoccupied, searched the area further, discovering a male occupant who had apparently been ejected in the crash.

CHP and fire personnel arrived and pronounced the 37-year-old man dead at the scene. The driver’s name has not been released at this time.

The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma, and the CHP said the driver was likely not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash “involved an unsafe turning movement with associated speed as a factor,” the CHP said.

It is not currently known whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
