SLMPD looking for suspects in city’s recent homicides

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department says they’re searching for suspects involved in the latest murders throughout the city.

There were five reported murders within the last week, with the two latest occurring less than 30 minutes apart.

On April 18, Cortez Jackson, 29, was found shot to death in the 6100 block of Delmar Blvd., according to Sgt. Charles Wall with SLMPD.

Police found 29-year-old Dominic Horton shot several times in the 3700 block of Aldine Ave. on April 19.

53-year-old Demetrius Bush was found shot in a car April 21 in the 6300 block of Windham Ave. and was pronounced dead at the scene.

On April 22, Daniel Hughes, 27, was shot in the 1600 block of Hamilton Ave., and later died at a hospital. On the same day, Simeon Diaz, 21, was shot and killed in the 4400 block of Elmbank Ave.

Sgt. Wall also reported three deadly car accidents in the last week, as officers are wrapping up their high-visibility traffic enforcement.

“In the five initiatives conducted so far this year, 906 citations have been issued and 398 traffic stops,” Wall said. “These high-visibility initiatives are just one of the ways we conduct traffic enforcement.”
