Slippery Rock High School hires new assistant principal

May 7—SLIPPERY ROCK — A new assistant principal has been named for Slippery Rock High School

Jesse Pattison, a 2010 Slippery Rock University graduate, will take over the position before the start of the next school year.

"My primary goal during my first year is to establish positive relationships and trust among the staff, students and parents of Slippery Rock Area School District. I am also looking forward to learning with both staff and students and finding ways to support them in achieving their own goals," Pattison said. "I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and I am looking forward to starting this new role as a Rocket."

The school board selected Pattison after a several-month search for the ideal candidate. He was hired at the April school board meeting.

"The board is excited to have Jesse joining us as the new assistant high school principal. He brings with him a wealth of experience that offers a point of view from outside our community, which can serve only to enhance our district, as well as some intriguing new ideas that we would like to explore," board President Heather Scott said.

Pattison had previously worked at Alpena High School in Michigan. While there, he managed a school of around 600 students, which is a similar size to Slippery Rock's estimated 624 students. He was responsible for scheduling and addressing staff needs, similar to his upcoming role in Slippery Rock.

He will be working directly with Corey Hake, high school principal, who has been in that position since 2015.

Hake expressed his joy to bring Pattison onto the staff and bring plenty of experience. He said he believed Pattison would enhance the school's community and help achieve their goals.

Superintendent Alfonso Angelucci endorsed the hire, citing Pattison's background and culture building talents as reasons to be excited.

"Jesse brings talent, experience and a diverse background in education to our school district," Angelucci said. "His previous work as a high school teacher and school administrator will only add to our successful high school programs."
