By now, you’re well aware that Season 4 of the Fox supernatural drama will follow Ichabod Crane as he carries on the fight against evil in the wake of Abbie Mills’ death. And you’ve seen series star Tom Mison clowning around with new co-star Janina Gavankar, who plays Ichabod’s new partner, Diana.

Now it’s time to see Ichabod and Diana get down to doing their job.

The exclusive image above finds the new duo in a situation that should be very familiar to Capt. Crane: standing amid lots of old books, looking rather perplexed. The photo comes from the Season 4 premiere, which is slated for early 2017.

In the rebooted fourth season, Ichabod will find himself relocated to Washington, D.C., where he will work with Diana and a small team of researchers. In addition to Gavankar, Rachel Melvin (Days of Our Lives), Jerry MacKinnon (Empire), Oona Yaffe (MasterChef Junior) and Jeremy Davies (Lost) have joined the cast; series regulars Jessica Camacho, Lance Gross and Nikki Reed are no longer with the series.

When TVLine spoke with Mison at New York Comic Con, he previewed the upcoming season, saying that viewers shouldn’t expect to “suddenly see him wallowing and pining and tearing his hair out and howling ‘Abbie!’ at the moon. Because that’s not really his manner.”

He added that Ichabod and Jenny are “far more driven” in the forthcoming episodes and that their mission is “for Abbie, rather than despite Abbie’s death.”
