SLED charges 17-year-old with attempted murder in 2022 shooting

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – A 17-year-old has been charged with five counts of Attempted Murder by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) in regards to a shooting incident that happened on October 28th, 2022.

According to SLED, Robert Jermaine McBride was charged with Attempted Murder on Tuesday, April 9th, and on Wednesday, April 10th, McBride was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Pistol, 4 counts of Attempted Murder, and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

According to authorities, the shooting happened on Storm Branch Road in Beech Island, South Carolina, and in the initial incident report, McBride did willfully, unlawfully, and with malice aforethought attempted to murder an Aiken County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Investigators say shots were fired, and that deputy received minor injuries during the gunfire.

SLED states that McBride was booked at the Aiken County Detention Center.

According to authorities, McBride was taken into custody in connection to a deadly shooting at a Circle K on Peach Orchard Road in Augusta earlier in October.
