SLC man dies after jet skiing incident in Morgan Co. reservoir

Update, 5/23: Just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Utah State Parks law enforcement rangers responded to the west side of the East Canyon State Park on reports of a crash.

The Division of Natural Resources said a man was riding his personal watercraft alone on the reservoir when he crashed into the rockface. A nearby fisherman reportedly heard the crash, saw the wreckage, and immediately called for help.

Rangers responded quickly via their patrol boat, but said that when they recovered the man, he had already died.

The man has since been identified as Benjamin Paul Rosser, 30, of Salt Lake City.

Authorities said he was wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.

The Utah Division of State Parks extended their condolences and said the incident remains under investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY: MORGAN COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A 29-year-old man from Salt Lake City died Wednesday evening after jet skiing at East Canyon Reservoir in Morgan County, Utah.

Authorities have made contact with the family, although no name is being released at this time.

Witnesses told authorities he was riding his jet ski and rammed into rocks on the shore. According to Drew Powers with DNR law enforcement, the man was pronounced dead on scene.

His body has been recovered by state park officials.
