The family of 18-year-old Renard Matthews decided to mourn him in the same way he lived his life.
The teen's body was placed in a chair, with his hands holding a Playstation controller and samplings of his favorite snacks, including a bag of Doritos, arranged next to him. He is wearing sunglasses, a Boston Celtics jersey, and on the television in front of him, his favorite basketball team is hard at it.
Renard was killed two weeks ago during a shooting in his New Orleans neighborhood. He had been walking his new dog when he was shot and his cellphone was taken, according to his aunt.
A neighbor described him as "a nice young man," Nola.com reported. "Natasha Joseph said her nephew was part of a strong, hardworking family whose mother runs a day care center.
Renard was a high school student who played recreational basketball and football. Authorities have not commented on the killing.
The teen will have a full New Orleans-style jazz funeral on Tuesday. His body is on view at Charbonnet Family Services.
