Brazilian skydiver killed in mid-air collision with fellow skydiver in Florida

DELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — A skydiver was killed and another was injured after they collided with one another in mid-air on Monday.

According to the DeLand Police Department, officers were called to the DeLand Municipal Airport around 2:26 p.m. after a male skydiver made a “hard landing.”

On Tuesday, authorities identified the man as 42-year-old Giulianno Scotti of Brazil. His body was found in the 1600 block of Lexington Avenue.

Officials attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Volusia County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine his exact cause of death.

The second skydiver suffered minor injuries and was treated by first responders at the scene.
